Well worth a visit Nearby Camping La Samaritaine Grand Est
The city of Reims, a real architectural pearl with its magnificent cathedral, its historic centre and its many Champagne cellars and merchants.
Something different
Verdun, the Fort de Douaumont and the surrounding area. Immerse yourself in history as you visit the many monuments and museums that pay tribune to WW1 and the Battle of Verdun.
Don’t miss
Argonne Discovery Park, is a wildlife park located just 10 minutes from the campsite. Home to several packs of wolves and various species of birds of prey, the park makes a great day out for all the family. Watch a 3D film that recounts the life of the wolves or let of steam in the bungee hammock. In the heart of the town of Sedan you can visit the eponymous castle, Europe’s largest medieval castle. A visit to the Ouvrage de Villy-la-Ferté, part of the Maginot Line system, where all the defensive works open to the public.
Walking/cycling route
Walk the Chapelle de Masmes Path. Leaving from the campsite, this 14km walk takes you through the undulating countryside around Buzancy. Legend has it that Charlemagne’s army, starving, received divine help at the Chapelle de Masmes, where manna literally fell from heaven. In thanks, Charlemagne ordered a church – long since destroyed and later replaced by the present-day chapel – to be built. Down the slope from the chapel you’ll find a spring.
Driving route
Circuit de la Bataille de Stonne. A sort of “remembrance route”, this circuit passes through various villages that saw fighting during WW2 in May and June 1940. In 14 stages it retraces the events that took place in these villages, now sadly famed for their role in the Battle of the Ardennes.
