The owners, both locals, will be delighted to act as your guides to the local area and show you the many leisure and sports activities on offer. Don’t forget to visit the nearby town of Le Puy-en-Velay with its lovely cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or the stunning Haute-Loire countryside with its wide open spaces and fascinating geography. A visit to Le Puy-en-Velay, just 45 minutes from the campsite. Once of the many French towns on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, Le Puy boasts a rich architectural heritage and many historical buildings to visit.

A Segway ride through the woods. Your chance to explore the local woodland on a battery-powered electric scooter. The 2-hour rental period includes a 20 minute familiarisation session.
Don’t miss
A walk around the Lac de Devesset. This mountain lake, set over 1000m above sea level, offers a 3-hour walk that takes you round its edge and into the cool shade of the woods that extend down to its shoreline. You can swim in the designated area, which comes complete with water games and a life guard, and you’ll even find a small snack bar selling drinks and ice creams. The more adventurous among you can hire a pedalo or take a catamaran lesson. Don’t miss the lake’s annual fête and firework show or the host of other activities offered throughout the summer.
Walking/cycling route
A walk to the Druid’s Rock. This 2-hour walk takes you through an ancient druidic forest of fine deciduous trees with its very own magical charm to the Druid’s Rock, a place surrounded by myth and legend.
Driving route
A visit to Chambon-sur-Lignon. Reputed for having offered safe haven to Jewish children during WW2, the village is now home to an interactive museum to the local Resistance, its garden of remembrance making the ideal place for a gentle stroll. Make your way back to the campsite via the protestant village of Mazet-Saint-Voy, one of the few places in France not to have a Catholic church, where the Halle Fermière farmers’ market offers the chance to buy some genuine local produce, all made or prepared by local farmers and craftsmen.
