Where should you start your sightseeing day in Angers? We recommend the imposing Château d'Angers. This iconic medieval fortress was built in the 13th century and is home to a true masterpiece: the famous Apocalypse tapestry, which is the largest medieval tapestry in the world.
Other unmissable sights include the Château de Brissac, the highest in France. With its 7 floors, the Gothic-style Château du Plessis-Macé and the Château du Plessis-Bourré are magical places that have often been used as film sets. You'll find so many great day trips when you enjoy a camping stay near the castles of the Loire.
Are you an art lover? Then head for the Jean Lurçat Museum, which is dedicated to the history of textiles. You'll see several incredible examples from the 1950s, as well as some more contemporary pieces. There's also the intriguing Museum of Fine Arts and the David d'Angers gallery. This gallery is dedicated to the works of the famous Angevin sculptor and is in an unbeatable location. The converted abbey church gives it an irresistible atmosphere.
Fun for the whole family
With the Loire and the Maine rivers on either side, the city has a wealth of sporting activities for you to try. Head out on the water in a canoe or a sailboat, or go to the nearby Lac de Maine for windsurfing, kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding. If you're looking for thrills and spills, you'll also find a number of great amusement parks nearby.
Enjoy a fun day out with the cycle paths that run along the banks of the Loire. The famous Loire à Vélo stretches over 800 km and is ideal for a family cycle trip. When you're tired, what better way to recharge your batteries than a cruise down the Maine? Enjoy glorious river views while sipping on a glass of local Loire rosé. This delightful Maine-et-Loire holiday is waiting for you at your mobile home near Angers.
