Well worth a visit Nearby Camping Les Tomasses Provence Alpes Côte d'azur

A visit to Le Castellet, one of the Var’s most beautiful hilltop villages (33km). This charming and unspoilt medieval village is surrounded by ramparts with a château at its summit. Here you can stroll through the cobbled streets and shady squares lined with crafts shops and restaurants. A picture-postcard village ideal for whiling away a quiet afternoon. Also close by is the famous Paul Ricard F1 racetrack.

Something different

A walk around Sillans-la-Cascade, 66km from the campsite. A stunning natural site featuring one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Var. Falling 42m amid lush green countryside, it’s a great place for a quick dip.

Don’t miss

Don’t miss Hyères, the Giens Peninsula or the Île de Porquerolles with its coastal path. Just 23km from the campsite, enjoy the wonderful sandy beaches of Hyères and its peninsula. Watch the emblematic pink flamingos on the salt flats and explore the splendid Île de Porquerolles. A visit to Toulon harbour, 22km from the campsite. Tour one of Europe’s loveliest harbours from the sea with a guided boat trip or admire it from dry land with a cable-car ride up to Mont Faron for a truly exceptional view.

Walking/cycling route

Just 2km from the campsite, the Provencal village of Belgentier sits alongside the River Gapeau. This lovely little village with its narrow cobbled streets, old houses and doors framed by sculpted stones has a charm all of its own. As you amble through the village, admire the many lavoirs and fountains, the splendid wall fresco depicting a visit from Louis XIV, the Château de Pereisc and the magnificent giant sequoia, nearly 7 yards round and several centuries old. And don’t forget a trip to the cellars of the village olive oil cooperative.

Driving route

A drive to Saint-Tropez (52km from the site) and back via Bormes-les-Mimosas. Explore the legendary Saint-Tropez, made famous by Brigitte Bardot, as you wander through its narrow, flower-decked streets and visit the Musée de la Gendarmerie, which pays tribute to the films of French comic cinema legend Louis de Funès. Make your way back via Bormes-les-Mimosas and the Fort de Brégançon. Beautiful and unspoilt, Bormes is an ancient hilltop village facing the sea and a winner of France’s Villages in Bloom competition. It boasts old houses roofed in pink and ochre tiles, a ruined chateau and ramparts covered in lush vegetation and narrow, flower-filled streets. Nearby, stands the famous Fort de Brégançon, the French President’s summer residence since 1968.
