Camping holidays to explore beautiful Normandy.

Enjoy the beautiful Normandy coastline with its long sandy beaches and high cliffs topped by rolling pastureland. Along the coast between Mont Saint-Michel and the Somme Bay lie the lovely seaside towns and villages of Étretat, Deauville and Trouville and the D-Day beaches. Inland the unspoilt Normandy countryside promises a wealth of fascinating natural and heritage sites to visit as well as some delicious local produce to sample.

A camping holiday in Normandy means taking the time to enjoy a spot of river or lake fishing, a walk in the woods or a fun cycle ride for old and young alike. The elegant spa towns of Deauville, Honfleur et Cabourg bask in the beautiful light which so inspired Monet, Flaubert and Maupassant. From the Bayeux Tapestry, through the D-Day landing sites at Omaha Beach to the majestic sight of Mont Saint-Michel rising from its vast sandy bay, Normandy is a place of unrivalled beauty and poetry.

Normandy, a region with an exceptional historical and artistic heritage

Camping in Normandy provides the holidaymaker with a wealth of places to see and landscapes to explore. The dramatic chalk cliffs of the Alabaster Coast which tower over the towns of Le Tréport, Fécamp and Yport have produced such natural wonders as the mysterious Needle Rock at Etretat in Upper Normandy. Inland, too, Normandy makes a rich and varied destination for a camping holiday with campsites situated in Calvados, the Risle Valley, the Cotentin Peninsula and along the banks of the River Seine.

With its hundreds of kilometres of coastline, UNESCO World Heritage Sites and some stunningly beautiful countryside, there’s no doubt that you’re in Normandy. A camping holiday in Normandy, the cradle of Impressionism, offers a great opportunity to visit the area’s many museums, not to mention the places frequented by the artists themselves.

And between visits, make sure you find the time to stop off at one of Normandy’s many restaurants and sample the region’s local food including its fine Camembert and Livarot cheeses, butter and cream from Isigny and seafood such as oysters and scallops – Normandy is France’s no. 1 producer of these delicious crustaceans.

What better way to brighten up your camping holiday in Normandy than a visit one of the many beautiful gardens in Calvados:

  • The Jardin des Plantes and Botanical Gardens at Caen,
  • The Jardins de Castillon,
  • The Jardins du Château de Brécy at Saint Gabriel Brécy,
  • The Jardin des Oubliées at Balleroy, home to many little known and ‘forgotten’ rose varieties.

Immerse yourself in history on a camping holiday in Normandy

Our caravan sites in Normandy are a great way to enjoy the medieval celebrations, complete with reconstitutions and other festivities, organised all over Normandy in honour of the Battle of Hastings.

The various visitor sites, museums and memorials dedicated to the D-Day Landings and the Normandy Campaign of World War II turn the whole area into one great open-air museum. If there’s one thing you simply must see on a camping holiday in Normandy, it’s the Utah Beach Museum, built on the site where Allied troops first landed on 6 June 1944. A series of celebrations are organised every year across Normandy to mark the Liberation. Come and explore the history-charged sites around Omaha and Utah Beach.
