Well worth a visit Nearby Camping Le Saint Michelet Occitanie
A visit to one of the area’s numerous caves. The best known are at Aven d’Orgnac, one of France’s major prehistoric sites, and Chauvet-Pont d’Arc, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Something different
The Sautadet Cascades with their spectacular, frothing white waterfalls. Shaped by erosion, the plateau features a number of faults and cavities known as “cauldrons” or “giant cooking pots”.
Don’t miss
The area boasts a number of picturesque villages including Montclus, Uzès, Lussan, Cornillon and La Roque-sur-Cèze. Not to mention the famous Pont du Gard and the former Chartreuse de Valbonne monastery.
Walking/cycling route
Setting out from the campsite, take the sign-posted “botany trail” for some great views of the River Cèze. A bike ride out to the Sautadet Cascades for a refreshing dip, returning via the little village of Cornillon and the châteaux at Saint Nabord and Trescombier, where you can sample the local wines.
Driving route
A 70km tour of the region’s vineyards and wine cellars. From Montclus, head for Barjac, then Vallon-Pont-d’Arc and Labastide-de-Virac before returning via Le Garn and Aiguèze. You’ll find the local producers only too pleased to share their knowhow, wines and other local specialities with you.
