Belle-Ile-en-Mer is the largest of Brittany’s many islands (85 km²) and boasts a rich flora and fauna. Also, don’t miss Port Haliguen, the Château de Turpault, a walk around the Gulf of Morbihan, Fort Penthièvre and Eric Tabarly’s Cité de la Voile in Lorient.

The Penthièvre isthmus. The isthmus at Penthièvre, the only point of entry to the Quiberon Peninsula, is a thin strip of land which joins Quiberon to the rest of France. It’s a great place to walk with the calm and peaceful waters of Quiberon Bay on one side and the endless expanse of the Atlantic on the other. 14 km from the campsite. The standing stones at Carnac. Carnac is a remarkable complex of dolmens, menhirs and covered passageways constructed in the Megalithic period. Come and explore this strange and enchanting world of myth and mystery and the legend of Saint Cornely of Carnac. 18 km from the campsite.
Walking/cycling route
La Pointe de Conguel - At the south-eastern tip of the peninsula, this headland makes a great destination for walkers with its ancient seaweed drying ovens and great viewpoint indicator. Port Haliguen – Located towards the south-eastern end of the peninsula on the Quiberon Bay side, Port Haliguen’s old fishing port and new marinas overlook one of the most beautiful stretches of navigable water in Europe.
Driving route
From the campsite take a drive out to the Locmaria viewpoint. Built on the site of a former semaphore signalling point, the Locmaria Tower offers stunning views of Quiberon Bay, the Penthièvre isthmus and the whole of the Côte Sauvage.
