Camping du Lac de la Chausselière - La Chausselière, set in the heart of the lovely Vendée countryside.

The Lac de la Chausselière offers a wide range of on-site activities including canoeing, boating, fishing or just relaxing by the pool, but also makes a great base for visiting the local sights, the Cité des Oiseaux bird reserve,Le Puy du Fou theme park and its Cinéscénie night show and Blue Beard’s Castle. A trip on the local “vélo-rail” - a sort of bicycle-operated railway handcar – will give you all the appetite you need to savour the oysters, prawns and sole provided generous waters of the Atlantic, never far away in Vendée.

Puy du Fou | If you fancy the chance to explore a medieval village and see the legendary Puy du Fou theme park for yourself, then book a stay at the Lac de la Chausselière close to the Château de Tiffauges. Use your holiday to travel back in time to the world of the Vikings or the days of the Three Musketeers – all just a 25-minute drive from the campsite.

Trentemoult and Nantes

Just a 30 minute drive away, you can stroll through the narrow, flower-decked streets of Trentemoult amongst the beautifully preserved sailors’ houses. Then take a boat over the River Loire to Nantes where you can marvel at the amazing “Machines de l’Ile” and even take a tour of the old docks on the back of a 12m-high mechanical elephant. A fascinating and inexpensive trip back into Nantes’ industrial past.

Fishing

Enjoy a relaxing fishing holiday in the Pays de La Loire. Situated on the shores of a lake, Le Lac de la Chausselière offers the ideal setting for a fishing holiday. Whether you prefer fishing with a lure, a waggler float or live bait, its 18 purpose-built pontoons mean that you’re bound to find the perfect spot for you. For the beginners amongst you, the campsite even organises regular fishing workshops where you can learn all the techniques.

Line and Pierre have always been committed to a responsible environmental and social approach, and the campsite has held Green Key accreditation for two years now. This label recognises their commitment to continuous improvement, which includes:

Recovering green waste by using it to cover pathways when it has been shredded
Preserving biodiversity by not using pesticides and manual and/or mechanical weeding instead
Reducing water and energy consumption by recovering rainwater, installing solar panels to heat the water for the shower blocks, and adding aerators and LED lighting.
Waste management, with no disposable dishes or cups, efficient sorting and composting.
Local partnerships: with an association that makes pencils from willow clippings, with people on social reintegration schemes who make bags from damaged tents left behind by guests, and with an educational micro-farm that recovers dried-up bread to feed the animals.
