Synonymous with the Loire Valley, the Châteaux of the Loire offer a rich and fascinating cultural tapestry which guides us through the key events in French history from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance.
Immaculately husbanded and highly productive, this great garden valley is also home to some great wines which you can sample as you travel west from the gentle hills of Sancerre, across the plateaux of the Touraine and through the terraced vineyards of Chinon and Bourgueil to finish in Saumur. Our campsites in Val de Loire are ideally placed for cyclists riding the Loire à Vélo, an 800 kilometre-long cycle path unique in France that passes through some of the jewels in France’s natural and architectural heritage crown. 13 circuits of between 10 and 43 kilometres, accessible from a number of our campsites in the Loire Valley, provide an ideal opportunity for young and old alike to explore the Valley of the Kings from Angers to the Briare Canal, the landscapes of the Sologne and the parks, gardens and – of course – the world-famous Châteaux of the Loire.
