Bike

Set in the heart of the countryside, Le Port Caroline makes an ideal base for exploring the region on the some of the local “La Loire à Vélo” cycle routes. In addition, Pascale and Jean-Marie will show you no fewer than 20 walking routes leaving from the campsite, all designed to guide you through the beautiful Loire Valley, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can rent bikes on site and set out to explore the banks of the River Loire with family and friends, visiting the towns of Angers (12 km) and Saumur. The campsites provides a map showing all these routes (available at reception) as well as guaranteeing a cycle-friendly stay.

Wine route

Le Port Caroline lies at the heart of Anjou, the jewel in the crown of Loire wines. Every week your hosts organise a tasting of the wines produced at the local Domaine des Forges. You’ll find these wines on sale at the campsite, but if you want to find out more you can also visit its cellars, along with those of the many other vineyards in the locality.

Terra Botanica

A visit to Terra Botanica (17 km) for an interactive adventure in the world of plants. Explore the flora of six continents through a series of attractions and activities contained in its 27 hectares of gardens and greenhouses. A stroll through the luxuriant vegetation of the Bioparc de Doué la Fontaine wildlife park, uniquely located in a prehistoric sedimentary rock quarry.
