Further afield, you can explore the Loire estuary, the Pont de Saint-Nazaire and the characteristic fishing huts on stilts. Bike

Thomas and Jean-Marie promise a warm welcome at La Guichardière, a campsite set in lovely countryside on the Atlantic Coast close to the town of Pornic. Located on the Vélocéan Cycle Route, you’ll find a number of cycle paths close to the campsite, ideal for exploring the region and taking the clean, sea air. You can also stroll around the port of La Gravette, explore the huge rocky plateau nearby and sunbathe on the fine sandy beaches. In short, whether you fancy a challenging cycle ride or a gentle stroll, it’s up to you! And cyclists are assured a bike-friendly welcome: the site was awarded France’s “Accueil vélo” status in 2015.

Pornic

Visit the medieval town of Pornic where the old town and château, set high on a cliff top, tower over the fishing port below. A day-long itinerary taking in Saint-Nazaire and its submarine base, the lovely bay at La Baule, the salt marshes of Le Croisic and finally La Brière Nature Reserve with a stop in the village of Kerhinet.

Sentier des Douaniers

From the campsite take a walk or bike ride along the old Sentier des Douaniers coastal path and explore the Côte Sauvage and its wonderful landscapes at your own pace. Just 300m from the campsite, explore the coastal paths of the Jade Coast including the Pointe Saint Gildas headland, a much prized holiday destination complete with coastguard tower, fishing village, sailing school and jet-ski centre. Another must-see attraction is Planète Sauvage safari park with its 150 different animal species.

Fishing

Located just 300m from the Atlantic coast on the edge of the town of Pornic, La Guichardière is the ideal spot for fans of fishing and beach gleaning. Enjoy a traditional seaside holiday and learn how to fish just a few metres from the campsite or spend your days playing and sunbathing on the fine sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast. There’s also plenty to keep you busy on site, where you’ll find all you need for a fun afternoon of fishing for all the family. Come for the annual Fête de la Pêche fishing week and learn about the joys of beach gleaning from the members of a local club.
