Camping Les Ilates - Loix en Ré, the perfect island hideaway.

A narrow lane winds through the salt marshes to Loix. It may be the smallest village and the smallest port on the Île de Ré, but it’s also the most secluded. And it has so much to offer: the fresh water of the pool and jacuzzi and the salt waters off the gently curving beach; the colourful market displays of fruit, vegetables and fish; the narrow village streets with their characteristic wallflowers and pastel greens. And why not try a little beach gleaning for some tasty seafood or a gentle cycle ride around the island?

La Rochelle Aquarium

At the tip of the Ile de Ré, close to the Phare des Baleines lighthouse, Damien’s campsite promises a relaxing yet lively holiday close to La Rochelle Aquarium. Immerse yourself in a world of undersea flora and fauna and escape to another universe. Then set out to explore the village of Loix-en-Ré. Meanwhile, back at the campsite you can sit back and enjoy a relaxing holiday close to the island’s famed salt marshes.

Bike

A real paradise for cyclists, the Ile de Ré has 100km of cycle paths that criss-cross the island. Loix-en-Ré, for example, boasts a 5km circular route that takes in the village, the Plage du Grouin and the local salt marshes. Ideal for a family outing, this short bike ride starts from the campsite itself. Meanwhile, the more adventurous should try the island’s main cycle route starting from the La Route du Sel in Loix.

Ile de Ré’s Relais Thalasso hotel and spa

Treat yourself to a day’s rest and relaxation at the Ile de Ré’s Relais Thalasso hotel and spa. Just 18km from the campsite, this wellness centre boasts a heated seawater pool, a spa and a range of thalassotherapy treatments. The perfect place to take some time out to enjoy the health-giving benefits of Ile de Ré’s marine environment.

Croisière Inter Iles island cruises

Take to the water with one of the Croisière Inter Iles island cruises that run all year round along the Charente-Maritime coast. Boats leave from the port of Saint-Martin-de-Ré just 13km from the campsite, where you’ll find information on a wide range of sightseeing boat tours. Destinations include Fort Boyard, La Rochelle and the Ile d’Aix. Tickets available from campsite reception.

The Green Key label, an accreditation that says it all

For Océane, whether it's worth preserving resources is a question he no longer asks himself. This is an absolute necessity. So, at camping Les Ilates, which has the Green Key label:

They are saving water by commissioning a chlorine generator using electrolysis of salt from the salt marshes.
Biodiversity is protected by the installation of beehives on the campsite, and their honey is sold on the site.
They manage their food through short supply chains, with the creation of a vegetable garden, an orchard and a grocery shop selling only local produce.
They have thought hard about energy efficiency, and have entered into a partnership with ADEME to implement energy-saving measures.
