Bike

The site makes the ideal starting point for exploring the many and varied faces of the Drôme. Around the campsite, you’ll find twenty or so circular walks that take in some of the area’s loveliest sights. Including signposted tracks, quiet country roads and hilltop passes, there’s something for every taste and every level. Come and enjoy the must-see sights of the Drôme at La Châtaigneraie, an accredited “Accueil Vélo” site since 2020.

Wine route

At La Chataigneraie the Anneyron hills look down over the Rhône valley and the vineyards of the Drôme. Every week in summer Aurélie and Emmanuel invite you to a tasting of the region’s famed Côtes du Rhône wines. They also offer the chance to go behind the scenes at the Cave Chapoutier, a mecca for wine lovers in nearby Tain-l’Hermitage, which you can visit by arrangement. Local wines are also on sale in the campsite’s shop and restaurant.

Peaugres Safari Park

High above the Rhône valley in the heart of the Drôme, La Chataigneraie is a green and leafy campsite not far from Peaugres Safari Park. Here you can explore the region’s beautiful hilly countryside before setting out to explore the wonders of Peaugres Safari Park, a great day out for all the family. Back on site you can sit back and relax or enjoy the activities organised by Aurélie and Emmanuel at their shady campsite for a peaceful but lively holiday in the great outdoors.

Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval

À moins de 20 min de route du camping se trouve le Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval. Ne manquez pas cette occasion de découvrir ce lieu unique ! Ce monument a été érigé à Hauterives par Joseph Ferdinand Cheval pendant 33 ans. C'est au cœur d'un jardin verdoyant que vous pourrez visiter ce palais, l'œuvre d'une vie, construite à partir de pierres ramassées dans la campagne. Emerveillement garanti !
