The Aude has so much more to offer than the Mediterranean, with a wide variety of landscapes stretching from the Montagne Noire to the Pyrenees. Or head inland under a cloudless summer sky to visit the formidable castles which tell the story of the mysterious Cathar movement of the 12C and 13C and the uniquely preserved medieval town of Carcassonne.
